Da Brat was in jail for hitting that Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader, Shayla Stevens, with a bottle back in 2007.
Back story: They were at a club and Da Brat mistaken-ed her for someone else and she tried to get her attention. Well, Shayla acted like a pretty girl and tried to completely ignore Da Brat. So Da Brat acted like the stud she is and she Hit That Bitch With A Bottle.
She tore that girl up
She ended up going to jail for 21 months, and she thought it was over and done.
Well, not necessarily. First, in 2009, Shayla filed a civil suit against Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri because she felt JD didn't provide the proper security for what happened to her. She lost that case.
"But if at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again, you can dust it off and try again, try again."
Shayla filed another suit, this time just against Da Brat for damages. Shayla has brain damage and also had to get facial reconstruction surgery.
If I remember correctly, she was asking for a little over $2Million, but the judge was not having it.
According to TMZ:
Da Brat is not catching any breaks today. After the initial $3.7 million judgement was handed down, TMZ reports that the jury added an additional $2.7 million on as added punishment.
The rapper now has to find a way to pay the victim $6.4 million, which covers her losses in wages and future earnings.
Now where is Da Brat going to get all that? I bet you see her selling CDs and DVDs, hell, she might join Porsha with that building fund.
DaBrat has responded and basically said, "girl, put that on my credit"
